Our
Values in the Workplace
Raising Planetary
Consciousness....In the Workplace
ConsciousMedia.com (CMC) is a start-up
company with a Mission to help raise planetary consciousness
by helping individuals raise their own consciousness. In
seeking to help transform the world, CMC intends to create a
work environment that helps team members fulfill their
potential both as individuals and as employees. The success of
our company depends on the successful growth of the
individuals with whom we work.
Every company’s Mission is dependent on
the success of its employees. It is the responsibility of
managers and staff to create a workplace that fosters
individual respect while facilitating a professional agenda. A
partnership is needed to ensure a work environment that meets
performance goals as it encourages the best in individual
performance.
At ConsciousMedia.com, we have a wonderful
opportunity to build a business from the ground up. Our
business plan includes the following blueprint for creating a
work environment that helps transform members of the team, so
the team can help transform the world.
1. The Journey at Work:
Personally and professionally, the journey is the destination.
How we work is just as important as what we accomplish.
Believing this to be true, ConsciousMedia.com is creating a
work environment that accommodates individual needs as well as
the needs of the corporation. As our volume of business
expands, operations will be geared to expand with it. We will
help prepare individuals to accommodate a rapid and
significant increase in business by having managers model a
professional work ethic that is beyond reproach, mentoring
young employees and providing training for every one as new
systems and technology evolve. In short, we will concentrate
on empowering employees to fulfill their potential in the
workplace just as they would empower themselves to fulfill
their potential as individuals.
2. Embrace Diversity:
People bring a lot more to a business than their resumes could
possibly tell. Accepting the fact that a “whole” person is
being hired is an important management decision. Individuals
bring more than just racial and cultural heritages to the
workplace. They have different learning styles, work habits
and philosophical outlooks on life. Embracing the rich
diversity of individuals and incorporating the whole person
into the workplace means utilizing every thing the employee
has to offer. This makes the workplace a vibrant learning
evironment where standards for performance are raised to the
highest common denominator thanks to freely shared ideas and
skills.
3. Work Smarter, Then Harder: It’s
more important to be productive than it is to be busy.
Creating a work plan, prioritizing activities, organizing team
work, coordinating schedules and tracking results against
agreed upon timelines optimizes the individual’s efforts as
well as the efforts of the organization. The efficient
organization of projects enables employees to work more
effectively. Working effectively makes it easier to produce
the significant results needed by our start-up company.
Effective utilization of our employees’ time empowers them
as individuals. We recognize too, that “working smarter”
means offering flexibility in work schedules so that employees
can attend to family matters that are important to them.
Because we value our employees, matters of importance to them
are important to us.
4. Recognition and Thanks: Recognition
is the sincerest form of encouragement. The best way to
encourage non-stop creative thinking and constructive
implementation is to publicly recognize individuals for
specific accomplishments. Even though teams are common in the
workplace, it’s important to remember that teams are made up
of individuals. Individuals thrive on recognition and each
person’s individual accomplishments should be celebrated as
soon as they are realized. Yes, and yet this is balanced with
the need to celebrate teamwork, because our organization is
only as strong as its weakest team.
5. Focus on What’s Working: We
get what we focus on and so it is important to focus on
solutions rather than problems. When a problem arises, focus
on expanding those things that are working rather than
identifying every little thing that isn’t. It is much more
energizing to ask people, “What’s right?” than
“What’s wrong?” That energy empowers individuals to
focus on solutions and leads to greater productivity.
6. Speak Early, Speak Often:
Effective communications is the single most important business
tool available to any company. As we grow, we will communicate
our goals, strategies and results to employees through weekly
staff meetings and frequent team meetings. It is our intent to
communicate information in such a way that we transform
individuals from having an employee-attitude to having an
owner’s mentality. Simply awarding stock options does not
guarantee an owner’s mentality! We will encourage decisions
to be made by individuals who “own” their solutions, the
results of those solutions and the long-term impact of those
decisions. We believe we will best serve our customers and
shareholders with employees who have both stock options….
and an owner’s attitude.
7. Sharing Values to Create a
Shared Vision: People accomplish what they
agree to accomplish. At ConsciousMedia.com, our values are
truly reflected in the products we sell. In fact, we believe
so much in the value of pursuing growth in Body, Mind and
Spirit that it is our Vision to make the tools for this growth
available through our web site to as many people around the
world as possible. Furthermore, our belief in personal
responsibility and integrity of action is reflected in our
commitment to excellent customer service and respect for our
fellows, whether they are business associates or customers.
8. Listening with Our Heart:
Our work is complicated! It’s not always easy to understand
what individuals mean when they are trying to communicate new
work processes, technical solutions or competitive business
concepts. Listening with the heart means respecting every
contribution because we believe it is offered with the honest
intention to have a positive impact. It is based on the
underlying assumption that we are all truly working together.
Not every idea warrants implementation, but surprisingly few
ideas are completely without merit. Pieces of discarded ideas
end up surfacing in other remarkably valuable solutions. We
create fertile ground for future ideas by considering every
suggestion from the heart as well as the head.
The eight principles listed above represent
a blueprint for honoring the people who will create
ConsciousMedia.com in their own image and likeness. It is our
intent to create a work environment that is consistent with
the personal reality of our employees. Of course, we face the
practical challenge of implementing our intent to honor the
“individual in the employee” on a daily basis. As
ConcsciousMedia.com unfolds, we hope to encourage team members
to raise their own levels of consciousness. This is
fundamental to the success of our business and the first step
toward fulfilling our Mission.
