that will help revitalize your mind and body and refresh
your spirit.
Filmed at sunset on the beaches of Maui with
renowned yoga teacher Suzanne Deason, this innovative
program is designed for people of all ages and levels of
fitness.
Today's world moves more quickly than ever and
with seemingly greater expectations and responsibilities.
While you can't always control those aspects of your work
and home life that generate stress, you can take steps to
reduce the anxiety you feel.
In her video, Stress Relief
Yoga for Beginners, yoga instructor Suzanne Deason shows
how to mitigate the effects of stress and bring renewed
vitality to your life in as little as 20 minutes a day.
From the quiet setting of a deserted Maui beach at sunset,
Suzanne takes viewers through a series of poses designed
to ease tension, increase circulation, and calm the body
and mind.
Because we tend to hold our worries in our neck,
shoulders, and lower back, the poses in this beginners'
video target these areas through a series of standing and
reclined movements. The sequence begins with Mountain
Pose, a classic posture that reconnects us with the earth.
Suzanne adds simple arms movements to this pose to
encourage the flow of energy throughout the muscles and
joints and release tension in the shoulders and upper
back.
The standing poses that follow open up the hips,
stretch the muscles in the legs, and ease back discomfort.
While Suzanne's standing sequence flows at lively pace,
her poses are all appropriate for beginners. Triangle,
Wide Stance Shoulder Stretch, Child's Pose, and
Downward-Facing Dog are among yoga's most therapeutic
postures, and they all appear in this stress-reducing
practice series to reawaken the body's energy reserves.
The video continues with back bends and spinal twists,
which increase blood flow to the spinal muscles and open
the chest for deeper breathing. Suzanne complements these
with forward bends that release the lower back, using
props such as a block or a chair for support. Home
students end the session with a reclined relaxation,
filling the belly with breath and exhaling out the
tensions and fears harbored within. Using this video
workout on a regular basis, viewers will be able to meet
life's challenges with poise and strength—and they'll
find they have the energy to enjoy life's precious moments
as well.
